Rehoboth Beach, Del., Mar. 3, 2025 – Jason Hoover, chair of Rank the Vote Delaware, will be the guest speaker at the March 12 meeting of the 14th Representative District Democratic Committee. The advocate for ranked choice voting will discuss “what it is, how it works, and why it’s so important for building a more representative democracy.”
The program will begin at 5 p.m. with a Dutch-treat dinner at Iron Hill Brewery, on Route 1 north of Rehoboth Beach, followed by Hoover’s remarks at 6:00, and committee business at 6:30. One major agenda item will be the election of 14 delegates to Delaware’s Democratic State Convention on June 21, 2025 in Dover. Any registered Democrat who resides in District 14 is eligible to serve as a State Convention Delegate.
A longtime community activist, Hoover founded Rank the Vote Delaware in 2020 to encourage candidate choices in elections. With ranked choice voting, if no candidate achieves a 50 percent majority, a second round occurs in which the last-place candidate gets eliminated and their ballots go to each voter’s next-favorite candidate. Currently, nearly 50 cities and two states (Maine and Alaska) use ranked choice voting.
All registered Democrats are welcome to participate in 14th RD meetings. The district committee is a nonprofit political organization representing Democrats who live in Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach. Those planning to attend the Mar. 12 meeting should RSVP by Mar. 10 to c.fruchtman@comcast.net. For further information: 14thRDDelDems.com.

The vigorous property development in Sussex County and the lack of appropriate infrastructure along with the rapid population growth it brings, challenge all of us, to protect and advance the public interest.
In order to learn how local issues are being addressed and decided, the Eyes on County Council initiative is being formed to consistently attend and observe County Council meetings. The goal is to be aware of land use decisions which have a potential impact on the broad public interest, and share details with interested advocacy organizations.
The Eyes on County Council initiative is asking for volunteers to attend County Council meetings, to take notes on agenda items that impact Sussex County residents. We will turn these notes into a digest and send it out to all participating organizations after each meeting.
We are looking for volunteers who can attend 1-3 meetings in 2025, for 4 hours at each meeting (meetings are on Tuesdays during the day). We are asking you to send this to your members to help us recruit volunteers.
Interested in volunteering, please email Alison White at abwsierra@gmail.com. We’ll schedule an informational/training session to give you guidelines on details to take note of.
Thank you,
Alison White

The 151st session of Delaware’s General Assembly, led in the House by the the 14th District’s own Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, had one of the most productive legislative sessions in recent memory.
