Rehoboth Beach, Del., Sept. 1, 2025 – The next meeting of the 14th Representative District Democratic Committee will feature two state leaders: Auditor Lydia York and Rep. Alonna Berry, D-Milton. The program will begin at 5 p.m. on Sept. 10 with a Dutch-treat dinner at Iron Hill Brewery, on Route 1 north of Rehoboth Beach, followed by remarks by York and Berry at 6:00, and committee business at 6:30.
York, the first African-American woman elected to an executive office in Delaware, will discuss her role as the State Auditor of Accounts. Her office serves as watchdogs over other state agencies, conducting audits of the government’s use of taxpayer dollars and investigating allegations of fraud. The recipient of a law degree, MBA, bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA license, York has brought her considerable academic and professional experience to the auditor’s office since 2023.
Berry, the newly elected state representative from District 20, will discuss her tough campaign and new role in the House of Representatives. She’s called for expanding early childhood education, increasing access to affordable housing and investing in clean energy. A nonprofit leader who founded the Bryan Allen Stevenson School of Excellence, she served as a senior policy advisor in the John Carney administration and executive director of the Delaware Center for Justice, a nonprofit that provides legal assistance to the victims, offenders and communities affected by crime.

Mary with our fundraising committee provided an update on our upcoming November 2nd GALA event Pattie with our Get Out The Vote.(GOTV) committee provided information on the RD20 special election. Todd our Young Dems outreach committee member updated members on recent events. Jeff Balk, Chair of the 14th RD announced he is stepping down effective immediately in order to give him more time to focus on his duties as Chair of the Sussex County Democratic Committee.
